Q&A

Q: I love this! Where can I get this?

A: For now, this is alpha quality software, so I am not releasing it yet. Sign up for the newsletter. Never sending junk - unsubscribe any time.

Q: I want to get this when the release comes.

A: You will be able to purchase a copy of a public beta release shortly. I need to set up some usable payments first.3

Q: Why should I pay for this? Isn't Linux free?

A: Because I worked hard to make this installer and paid for this website. You are still free to install Linux your way. Especially if you currently use Windows, which cost ~$100 USD2, you might as well pay me some minor amount. I want to eat too.

Q: If I need to pay, can I get something for spreading the word?

A: I would be more than happy to share referral codes once I know how to do it properly.3

Q: What distros will be supported?

A: For now I only want to support one distro, Zorin Core. Once I get the first penny out, I will start processing feature requests.

  1. ^ hi Mom
  2. ^ no, not a single Windows copy was ever a free extra; unless you want to tell me something...
  3. 1, 2 why is handling money so complicated? I wish I did not need to paywall my software. I wish people just donated to projects they find useful, and publicly encouraged such donations (for free, without reminding)

It works! 🔗

The current prototype consists of two files: a self-contained executable file and an official disk image from the recommended distro (Zorin Core). Once you click on the executable, it prompts for disk access and asks several questions in order to configure a one-time reboot to live Linux, with the option to install permanently.

The only piece left before starting the public beta is figuring out some per-download payments.
